Craft Show Display Ideas

With just a hint of warmer weather today, (which will soon drop again,) I have already started to prepare for my spring craft displays.

I have been watching auctions and estate sales for some old suitcases, wooden cabinets and metal basket trees. Luckily, I have found a few and saved them back. 

But I usually always end up needing more cabinets to hold many little treasures.  And here is where my other half comes in.  He is great at making things (on his one day off.)  And as you probably seen before, I love having him make these cabinets out of old barn lumber.

And keep in mind, about any type of found wood could be used, not just old barn lumber!

Try to work with just about anything you have on hand.  I do this all the time so I'm not 

out any more extra money than I have to be.

And this one was from last spring with some beautiful, fresh Easter flowers in an old Mason jar.

Just look how vibrant and beautiful they were!

Don't forget to add little touches like this to your displays.

Make your items stand out and show shoppers how they may be

able to use them.

Here's a child size chair we made out of old barn lumber also.
It's a great display for anywhere you want to add some decorations.

And by adding some fresh flowers to it last year, you can see it make it really "Pop" with color.

Anything you can do like so, will really help get people's attention to your items!
And every little bit helps right!

BARN LUMBER DISPLAY RACK

I needed something old and country themed to display my Country Sampler magazines in at my Booth #555 at the Peddlers Mall.

 

I took some short pieces of some aged barn lumber we had, and simply cut and pieced them together. In a type of form that he thought would house magazines.  And, in my opinion it’s ok!

After taking the photo, I sanded it down with some sheets of coarse sand paper and then sealed it with some craft sealer. I didn't want anyone to get splinters while reaching for the magazines.

I wish I'd taken a photo of it finished. If I did, I can't find it yet.....

And by the way, after being in my craft booth as a display item only, I had calls from the store that people wanted to purchase this. So I priced it for only $9.99 and it sold immediately.

I loved the first one better, but with old barn lumber, hardly two are ever the same.

Halloween Labels

It's that time again! Time to add a lil creepy to our homes. And this year I did something new. I ordered some sticky Halloween themed labels from ebay, (because I didn't feel like going out and buying the sticker paper & buying images on Etsy at the moment.) So it was just because I wanted the easy way out, or I'd have taken the time to do so. lol.

I made a lil box of things with labels to go in my Peddlers Mall booth as well. Here they are after I used what I needed, I packaged the left over labels up for sale in my booth also. So people can put them on what they want, if they don't like my pre-made items.

As you see, they are just basically pre-made stickers with cute Halloween themes. That's it. Ready to stick. Just find an object to put them on. Here's some more pics of how I used them below on an old medicine bottle, can of beans and a can of tuna. I just took off the original labels and stuck them right on.

 

And here's a little display I made on the front porch. Note the cute little barn wood cabinet that my wonderful hubby Greg made! Gotta love a crafty man! :-)

I love these labels. So simple but they add a unique look for my decorations. I need to go snap some pics of the yard and area my husband decorates. I may add some later on, if I can remember.

BARN LUMBER TOOL BOX

I drew out a sketch of a toolbox that I wanted my husband to throw together for me. Just a basic, simple shaped box with a handle. And he did.

We used an old tobacco stick for a handle.  Drilling the holes in the old barn lumber was really the hardest part.  Because that wood is so old and hard!

I just love it!
I kept one for myself to store Country Sampler magazines in down in the living room.

And the other one, pictured above is for sale in my Peddlers Mall booth.

PRIMITIVE BARN WOOD STOOL with Old Crow

 This cute little barn wood stool came from some old pieces of barn lumber we had left over from other crafts.  None of the pieces were large enough for cabinets or shelves, so I had to think up something smaller to make.

I first drew out a really basic sketch, kinda resembling this little stool and asked
my husband if he could make it.  After he did, I was surprised to see it was exactly how I had drew it.

AWESOME!
Well, then it was all completely gray.  Just the way the old barn lumber mostly is.
So I took some black craft paint and painted all the newly sawed edges.

Then I got out one of my favorite stencils, the Old Crow, and put it on the front.

I then stenciled on an few little tiny black stars to the side. Just trying to give it an even more "prim" look.
Then I kind of dry brushed on some streaks of black paint to give it a more aged look.
And that was about it.
