LITTLE FARM SIGN

Here is a cute little farm sign that I recently made.

I just made it for fun to hang up around the chickens and the cows.

I saw a similar one on Pinterest and I just kind of went with it.

I first painted the wood cutting board red and then I freehanded the words in pencil.
that way I could erase and try again if something was way off.

But overall I like how it turned out.

FIVE ON FRIDAY from the lil' FARM

Linking up today with FIVE on FRIDAY to share a few random pics of my lil' ole' farm life.

Here's to the farm life ya'll.

I welcome 6 new baby Bantam (we call Baneys) chicks on May 30, 2016!  

I watched ole' Large (I named 3 of them Small, Medium and Large) play "kick the can" with a plastic bucket for about 15 minutes or so before tiring of it.

I was elated when a roll of hay that got away from me ended up FINALLY stopping on a section of barbed wire fencing.  Otherwise it would've went all the way down in the creek. Shew~

I watched as a single deer checked on the progress of the grapevines as I done the morning dishes.

And most off all, throughout the week, I stayed happy despite having to put up with a lot of.....

RUSTY HORSESHOE CRAFTS and BARBWIRE WREATH

Hey ya'll. I've been super busy the last month and a half with new calves on my lil' farm. This is all new for me and wow at the things you learn.  But anyways this is leading up to my new craft post today using old rusty things on the farm.

I have tons of ole rusty horseshoes around not because I've had horses but because I love rusty farm stuff.

So when putting up a new wooden door for the calves I thought about making a sign that said COWS but by using the horseshoes as letters. Here's how I started.

I just laid them out and moved them around until they started looking like the letters I needed. I just loved tge big fat one I had for a c.

I used medium sized wood screws and screwed them into the door.

And then came the "s."  I got it but it doesn't look as good as the other letters.

But I got it the best I could.

The s is just the best I could get it but I'm sure the cows wont mind.

And then I needed to make something to fill the space around it.  So I wanted a rusty wreath made of barbwire. So for me I just went over in an old field and cut some. But if you don't have any, maybe you can ask around or buy a new roll of wire, and spray paint it rusty brown.

Here I just made a few circles with it and then screwed it straight to the door.

And for one last sign for the side of the lil ole barn, here's what I made.

I did finally wash off the MOO sign later. I screwed it to a piece of 2x6 then to the wall. But fir the word COWS I just screwed each letter to the wall individually.

COUNTRY MAKES MY HOUSE A HOME

 (Taking a break from crafting posts today to share some pics.)

I have been re-arranging and already getting my house ready for fall.

Enough summer heat and bugs for me already. 

So while digging out my found treasures from auctions and flea markets, I thought I'd share a few pics of stuff that I love to collect.

All these items are what makes my house a Country Home.

Yes, I love canning jars.  

I am in the process of putting these in a cabinet. Photos later.

And no, not just the blue ones either.

But the aqua blue ones really are my absolute favorite.

 (Sorry about the darker pics, this Samsung Tablet doesn't have a flash)

But there is just something about having  a bunch of the clear ones sitting around that makes me feel at home. That good ole' country home feeling.

And since I can stain them, like I shared in a previous post, HOW TO STAIN MASON JARS, I love having plenty on hand to work with.

And then we have the wooden spoons and rolling pins that I absolutely love.

Here are a few shots from around my dinning room and kitchen.

Oh, and the crocks. I love them, but doesn't everyone?

And old pitchers for the patterns and because they can hold wooden spoons lol.

Even the old cracked and broken ones can find a place in my home.

What I love about country living and decorating is that there are no rules.

If I like it, I use it. If it fits, it stays there.

Oh, and I love the red and white enamelware! I am really just starting to collect the plates and such too.

Hum, I'm beginning to wander if I have enough pitchers full of wooden spoons? Now that I am snapping pics, I am realizing I have quite a few. Na, not enough yet!

 Here's an old coffee pot I also love.

And here's some more random shots. I just really cannot get enough wooden spoons tucked here and there!

And rolling pins. What country home doesn't have a few rolling pins here or there?

And here are some tiny, wooden rolling pins my aunt Marlene gave me:

Ain't they just cute? 

And I think that is pretty much enough indoor stuff for now.

I don't want to overload you with my love of the country decorating.

So before I go, here's one last thing. It's my favorite outside garden thing.

This use to be the entrance to my strawberry garden.

Sadly they didn't grow great here, so I moved as many as I could that were left.

When taking down the fenced in area, (lots of lattice) I had my husband to leave the entrance like so, with the gate.

And I love it.

Right now it has tons of morning glories trailing up it.

And one more last thing, lol.

Here's my country, barn wood fences out front.

And here is the backs. I've put some rose bushes behind them now so I can see them from my front porch.

Country Fences in Manchester, KY #2

 Happy Thursday Ya'll!

Thursday is all about fences.
And this is my 2nd fence post share-Click here for my 1st.

So today I'd like to share
some back roads, country fences from a day trip I took through lower Kentucky yesterday.

I drove for about 3 and a half hours and ended up in the lower end of
Manchester, Clay County.
First time I ever really drove through that county that I can remember.

It is said to be the Land of Swinging Bridges.

Well, I didn't run upon any swinging bridges, maybe next time! 

But a notable mention is that there really isn't tons of fences to get pics of.

There are tons of barns and old buildings, plenty of steep mountain sides
and curvy roads but not a lot of fences.

These are a few that are close to the Happy Chandler Rd.
 It is named after KY politician, Albert Benjamin "Happy" Chandler, Sr.

 And then we started headed back up, into town again:

 And finally back on my way home sweet home.

Well, that's all for today.
I am going to go restock my Etsy shop with some
hand made earrings.
